Congratulations to Cameron Dunlop and Austin Parliament for being selected students of the month. Cam and Austin are excellent students in the GHS Hospitality program. They are comfortable in the kitchen and often do extra things that help make things run smoothly.  In the past month they have been extremely helpful by coming in on their spares to help put together staff lunches, make pizzas and run errands. Mrs Underwood appreciates all of their extra efforts and acknowledges these extra efforts make her job so much easier. The two are reliable, consistent, trustworthy and a benefit to the program. Congratulations to Cam and Austin.

Virtual Learning Summer School applications are due today.  If you are planning on taking a virtual learning course this summer, speak to Mrs. Schandlen in the Guidance office.

From the Sports Desk:

Two track and field athletes traveled to York University for the OFSAA Central Regional championships.  Taylor Montgomery placed 7th in the discus with a final throw of 28.08 metres.  She was “sitting” in 4th place until the final round of competition where several athletes had some excellent throws which ended up placing her in 7th to push her out of contention to go to the OFSAA finals.

Dalton Mackenzie was ranked in 9th position going into the competition and was extremely nervous before his event.  He threw the shot put 12.26 metres which wasn’t his best throw and ended up finishing in 9th place.

The athletes were throwing over 14 metres which is extremely difficult competition for a Junior level athlete.

Please congratulate Taylor and Dalton when you see them around the school for their excellent representation of GHS athletics.
