Guidance Department

Welcome to the Gravenhurst High School (GHS) Guidance Department page. We are dedicated to fostering the academic and personal growth of our students. Our team is committed to providing support, not only in academic matters, but also in navigating the exciting journey towards post-secondary opportunities. From assisting with course selection, to connecting parents/guardians and students with community resources, we aim to empower each student to achieve their full potential.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements

New requirements

eLearning credit: students are required to earn two online learning credits to graduate from secondary school, beginning with every student who entered Grade 9 in the 2020-2021 school year. Adult learners entering the Ontario secondary school system in 2023-2024 or later will be required to meet this graduation requirement and may opt themselves out of the requirement. The graduation requirement is intended to support students in developing familiarity and comfort with working and learning in a fully online environment, as well as developing digital literacy and other important transferable skills that will help prepare them for success after graduation and in all aspects of their lives.

Grade 9 and 10 technological education credit: beginning with students entering Grade 9 in September 2024, all students will now be required to earn a Grade 9 or 10 technological education credit as part of their OSSD. This new learning graduation requirement will expose Ontario’s students to at least one technological education course.
